The front CV axles on a 80/105 Series are a known sacrifice point. They're designed to be the weakest link in the driveline — which sounds like good engineering until you're waiting for a recovery in the middle of nowhere because you snapped one on a rock ledge at full steering lock.

The factory axles are adequate for standard use. Add a lift, fit 35s or larger, start loading the vehicle, or put it in situations that require full articulation under power — and the factory axle's limits become very real, very quickly.
