Will the Universal Maxx fit my LandCruiser, and do I need the Toyota wiring harness?

Yes, it suits supported LandCruisers including 70 Series 1984-on, 80 Series 1990–1998, 100 Series 1999–2006, and 200 Series GXL 2007-on. If your vehicle is on the supported list, we recommend adding the Toyota Wiring Harness to help avoid hardwiring and make installation easier.

Is it plug-and-play, or should I get it professionally installed?

It is not exactly plug-and-play, but the Polaris Toyota Wiring Harness can make installation much easier on compatible Toyota models by helping avoid hardwiring. Confident DIYers may be able to install it themselves, but professional installation is recommended if you are unsure.

Does it come with maps, or do I need to use my phone?

CarPlay and Android Auto are built in, so many buyers use their phone apps. You can also add extra navigation apps to the unit, and optional TomTom mapping is available.

Why would I choose this over a basic head unit?

It gives you one screen for phone mirroring, reversing, extra camera inputs and touring apps, which makes it a better fit for many 4WD and touring setups than a basic stereo.

Should I add the OBDII reader?
